From the desk of the Building Committee Chairman:
While planning the site work on the ILC Campus presented many challenges (water, sewer, gas, electric, storm water, and communications all have to integrated into a rather complex system already in place) we remain on course for an August start for the project. Initial stripping of the Cottage is complete (see website photos) and our General Contractor hopes to have the Cottage removed and initial site work completed prior to the opening of the school year at ILC.
Initial start plans have also been delayed a bit by the addition of a geothermal heating and cooling system, which will substantially reduce energy costs for the Academic Center for the life of the building. While initial costs for this system are substantial, we are currently evaluating a 12-15 year payback. In other words, this system will pay for itself in about a dozen years, and then continue to save ILC thousands of dollars in energy costs annually.
The ILC Building Committee is scheduled to meet August 15th and August 22nd.
